“Remembrance”, “body.move” to the Orkneys
Two of my video works will in February be screened at the art festival PAPAY GYRO NIGHTS 2011, which takes place on the little island Papa Westray (Papay), a part of the Orkney Islands. “Remembrance” and “body.move” are part of the festivals programmes for experimental film and installation pieces. The festival has this poetic description of it self: “In February, when nights are long and weather can be vicious and only brave ones will dare to undertake a journey across the rough sea, the Island will be transformed into the art gallery, where works will be displayed in unconventional locations, changing perception of the timeless landscape.” A good place to be screened, in other words.
Festivalen is running from the 14. to the 21. February, and is arranged by LAND ART – PAPA WESTRAY, an artist run, international art project started in 2007.

“Nor Noise” lecture at Bergens Noise-Fest
I’ve been booked to give a lecture about NOR NOISE and noise music in general, at the Bergen Støyfest, arranged by UTMARK at Landmark/Bergen kunsthall October 9. – 10.
Not all of NOR NOISE will be screened, but this means that the film now has been shown at more than 20 film- and music festivals around the world since it’s release in 2004. I think that’s a more than good enough reason to mark the occation with a little celebration in Bergen, while having my ears blown out with some good, hard core noise :)
Artists performing at the festival are Merzbow (JP), Consumer Electronics (UK), Skullflower (UK), Skull Defekts (SE), John Wiese (US), and Maranata (NO). You don’t want to miss this one!
Material shot for new video installation
Tom Løberg has shot material for his new video installation piece, “body.move”. The piece will be presented this winter.
Great expectations
Things happen. Suddenly I’ve made appointments to do two video works, one for Telemark idrettskrets and their project SOLA, and one for Porsgrunn kunstforening, documenting the opening of Ole John Aandal’s exhibition “Juvenilie” at the Iberia Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing, China. So I get a free trip to Beijing, in other words.
But hey! you may exclaim – how are you going to get those jobs done when you can’t even finish The Way You Turn My Head because of lack of editing tools?
Well, the payment from these jobs will enable me to buy a new PC and software and get it all in the can by autumn. I’m not saying it’s a plan, for my plans have backfired on me before. But it is an opportunity to get it done and over with once and for all… and I get a free trip to Beijing!
Much more to read

This site has now been updated with essays written by Tom Løberg Hovinbøle, about films, film makers and the art of film. Most are from his time serving the Programming Committee at the Cinemateket in Trondheim. Several more essays will be posted throughout the winter.
Unfortunately the essays are in Norwegian but translations in English will follow later.
The turning has begun
The shoothing of Tom Løbergs new short film – The Way You Turn My Head – started this Thursday. A very smooth production day sent every one home some hours earlier than scheduled – and bodes well for the continuing work. The plan is to wrap the shooting November 15.
You can follow the production here, on our regularly updated “director’s journal” for the film.
